Saioa Aginako is a Basque illustrator. She studied illustration at Escola Massana (Barcelona) and at ISIA in Urbino (Italy). Since she was a child she has maintained a connection with the natural environment, spending time in the woods and observing birds. Enthusiastic about every detail, from the tiniest frog, to the textures created by the bark of different trees, to the variation of colour in the reflections of water. This connection can be seen in her illustrations, full of colour and versatility, which create unique and sensitive environments. Childhood, the folklore of different peoples and the simplicity of everyday life are other sources of inspiration for her work. In 2025 her series ‘It all started with corn’ received special mention at the 16th Iberoamérica Ilustra catalogue and her work ‘In search of the tiger" is longlisted for Illustrators Exhibition at Bologna Bookfare. He has just finished illustrating his first book with Corraini Edizioni.
