IRUDIKA RESIDENCES 2026 | CHAPTER 04.

ROCIO

VARYA

The week was intense. We organized an animation screening, and around 30 to 40 people came. Rocio and I showed our films, and then we danced until morning.

VaryaI went to a life drawing session again, and this time I was drawing a woman. A photographer came to my studio to make a series of photographs of my drawings.

VARYA

We also went to an exhibition by the comic artist Madlen Pereira.

VARYAAnd many other things happened, but it is hard to remember everything.

Varya

I am getting deeper and deeper into the project, and sometimes it is interesting, sometimes difficult, but that is the path.

ROCIO

Last weekend we organized a short film screening and party at Toni Mengual's house. He's a Spanish animator who lives and works in Angoulême with his girlfriend in an amazing house with a garden, chickens, and really cool vintage brocante decor.

ROCIOThe idea was to show Toni Mengual's new short film, Anton Dyakov's (Varya's boyfriend) new short, and also Varya's and mine so people could see them. We also added some other shorts from people in Angoulême, and it turned out to be a great session. We had to do it in shifts because we couldn't all fit. Then the party continued, and the clocks officially changed for spring. On the other hand, of course, we continued with our projects, adding layers and doing tests. In my case, I'm materializing and slowing down the online world with cardboard and drawings.

ROCIOI posted a work in progress this week that was unexpectedly successful; I think it's a topic that concerns us all and motivates me to keep going. We're already straddling the line between here and Mexico. A really cool little group of residents has formed at the maison des auteurs, and we'll miss them.
